A Missouri community is mourning after a youth soccer player collapsed during a game and died.

“Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with the Taylor family as they mourn the loss of their beloved son Ken,” a March 29 Facebook post by Waynesville/St. Robert Youth Youth Sports said.

Ken Taylor was playing soccer on March 28 when he collapsed on the field, according to WSR Youth Sports.

Ken was taken to a hospital by ambulance and later died, the organization said. Officials didn’t list his age or provide more details.

“Our hearts are heavy as we extend our sincerest condolences to the Taylor family during this difficult time,” Waynesville Youth Soccer said in a Facebook post March 30.

The organization shared a photo with a soccer ball and No. 10, for Ken’s soccer number.

Ken also played baseball for a 9 and under team in the Wood Little League in 2023, according to a March 29 Facebook post.

“Kenshin’s wonderful smile and awesome attitude will surely be missed this season,” league President Joe Rulewich asid.

The City of Waynesville placed a wreath at the field where Ken collapsed and encouraged others to leave items in memory of him.

Waynesville is about a 135-mile drive southwest of St. Louis.
