Missing woman’s SUV found at trailhead in state park — but no sign of her, WA cops say
A missing 61-year-old’s SUV was spotted at a trailhead in a Washington state park, but deputies said they couldn’t find her.
Jane Tang told her family she was going to a state park on March 2, but she never returned home, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office told McClatchy News on March 8.
She’s been missing for six days.
Tang’s case was opened in King County and turned over to Snohomish County authorities when her silver 2016 Honda HR-V was found at the Heather Lake Trailhead in Mount Pilchuck State Park, deputies said.
Rescuers have spent four days searching for her in tough terrain “with a lot of snow,” deputies said.
They’ve used a helicopter, snowmobilers and rescuers on foot to find her. Deputies said they also sent out 4x4 units but haven’t had any luck.
“PLEASE stay out of the area right now. SaR is doing their thing and they don’t want other folks putting themselves in danger,” Cambra Wohlfeil said in a Facebook post.
Anyone with information about Tang can contact the sheriff’s office at 425-388-3393.
Mount Pilchuck State Park is about a 60-mile drive northeast of Seattle.
Heather Lake Trailhead is a 4.4-mile out-and-back hike that leads to Heather Lake, according to AllTrails.
The trek is rocky and currently covered in snow.
