Wife thinks South Carolina lottery ticket is a dud – but husband says keep scratching
A South Carolina lottery player is thankful for her husband after he didn’t let her give up on a scratch-off ticket.
The couple sat in their car outside a QuickTrip with a $10 Max Money ticket in hand when the woman began scratching off numbers, according to a Nov. 2 news release.
Her husband had bought the ticket inside, and when she didn’t see a win right away, she handed the ticket back to her spouse, they told South Caroline Education Lottery officials.
Instead of giving up hope, her husband passed the ticket back and told her to keep scratching.
“I finished scratching it,” she told lottery officials. “Then, I cried.”
The ticket won $300,000.
“It’s still not real to me,” the woman said.
The odds of winning the prize are 1-in-936,000, leaving three top prizes still in the Max Money game.
