You don’t want to see this in your toilet, but Alabama cops have funny explanation

The thought of finding a snake in a toilet has people terrified.

A recent encounter came when an Alabama police department responded to a “snake in the toilet” call. And officers took — and shared — photos to as proof.

“We never know from one day to the next what kind of call we will (receive) during our shift,” the Eufaula Police Department said in a Sept. 16 Facebook post. “Today was no exception, however a snake in the toilet wasn’t on our list of possibilities.”

But duty called, and day shift officers removed the “unwelcomed visitor” from the bathroom.

While the slithering snake’s motives were unknown, police have offered up one potential explanation.

“In the snakes defense, he was just trying to reach the homeowner about their car’s extended warranty,” authorities said.

Police say it was a “harmless” gray rat snake, though even a nonvenomous snake is an unwanted surprise.

“Well no more using the toilet for me,” one commenter replied. “I’ll just hold it forever.”

“I’ll be checking my toilet constantly now,” another said.

“Now I am going to be paranoid about going to the bathroom,” another person commented.

“Full fledge heart attack,” someone wrote.

Snakes can enter plumbing pipes that lead to your bathroom while down in the sewers, a Queensland wildlife expert told BBC News in 2016.

“The snakes just follow the trail of the rats,” Geoff Jacobs with Queensland Wildlife Solutions told the outlet. “All over the world rats go down in sewers and the snakes go in there after them.”
