Goose lays eggs in planter outside Colorado store — and now shoppers get to name her
A goose made an unexpected drop-off at a Colorado thrift store — several freshly laid eggs.
The soon-to-be mother goose laid the eggs inside a planter outside the Arc Thrift Store in Littleton, Colorado.
“She was starting to make a nest in the potter, and then when it was a couple of days out, she laid her eggs,” manager Andrea Jones told ABC 7. Staff at the store make sure to provide fresh water for the goose everyday.
Videos of the scene taken by the news outlet show the goose sitting atop the planter, which is surrounded by caution tape to prevent bystanders from disturbing the nest.
A photo shared by the store on Facebook shows a sign in front of the planter, which reads “Shh…Baby Zone.” Another photo shows four eggs carefully tucked into the goose’s nest.
The goose’s eggs will likely hatch soon, and the store is seeking the community’s help to give her a name. People can submit entries on the store’s Facebook page, and whoever comes up with the winning name will receive $25 in vouchers to use at the store, according to a Facebook post.
Some of the suggestions so far include:
- Thrifty
- Petunia
- Joan of Arc
- Lucy Goosey
- Feather Locklear
The store will pick a name for the goose on Mother’s Day, May 8.
Littleton is about 10 miles south of Denver.
