A 54-year-old man suffered critical injuries after falling off a 20-foot cliff in a bicycle accident near Phoenix, Arizona firefighters said.

A mountain bicycle crash near Phoenix hurled a 54-year-old man over a 20-foot cliff, Arizona firefighters told news sources.

The crash, near Telegraph Pass on South Mountain, left the cyclist critically injured Saturday, Jan. 29, firefighters told KNXV.

He’s reported in critical condition with a head injury and broken collarbone after being airlifted to a hospital, KPNX reported. Firefighters did not say whether he was wearing a helmet.

Firefighters reported on Twitter they had made four rescues from mountains around Phoenix on Saturday.
