Former NFL great Joe Montana and wife confront intruder taking their grandchild, cops say

Former NFL quarterback Joe Montana and his wife confronted an intruder carrying their infant grandchild Saturday evening in their Malibu home, California police say.

A woman entered the home of the former 49ers and Chiefs quarterback about 5 p.m. and picked up his 9-month-old granddaughter from a playpen in the living room, NBC News reported.

Montana and his wife, Jennifer, confronted the woman and asked her to return their grandchild, ABC News reported. After a tussle, Jennifer Montana pried the child from the woman’s arms.

The woman fled and Joe Montana ran outside to flag down deputies patrolling the neighborhood, CBS News reported.

After a search, deputies arrested Sodsai Dalzell, 39, on suspicion of kidnapping and burglary, ABC News reported.

“Thank you to everyone who has reached out,” wrote Joe Montana on Twitter. “Scary situation, but thankful that everybody is doing well. We appreciate respect for our privacy at this time.”
