Disneyland’s Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance ride breaks down on its opening day

Disneyland’s Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance broke down on Friday — its opening day.

The ride opened around 8 a.m., and it shut down about two hours later after 11 boarding groups had already made it through, according to Inside the Magic.

The ride was back up within the hour, Inside the Magic reported.

Boarding groups had filled up within 45 seconds of the queue opening online, according to WDW News Today.

Thousands of fans began lining up at midnight, according to the Orange County Register.

The attraction had broken due to “the kinds of technical issues that have bedeviled the version of the ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios since it opened there on Dec. 5,” according to the Orange County Register. It broke down again around 2:30 p.m.

Rise of the Resistance is the second ride to open at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, according to CBSLA.

The attraction puts riders in the middle of the battle between the First Order and the Resistance and is a “trackless dark ride,” according to Los Angeles Magazine.

“Unlike the Disney employees on other rides who greet visitors with a smile, the attraction employs dour-faced staff to play the part of evil First Order minions,” the Los Angeles Times reported.
