A vegetation fire ignited in the Elfin Forest in Los Osos on Thursday afternoon.

The fire was reported at about 5 p.m. and burned a 50-foot by 50-foot plot of vegetation that included manzanita and coyote brush, Cal Fire spokesperson Eva Grady said.

Some of the blaze burned underneath the oak tree canopy, but none of the trees caught fire, she said. The fire moved with a slow rate of speed.

The area was hard to access, but firefighters contained the blaze by 6:33 p.m.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, she said.
