Controlled burn sends plume of smoke down the coast
State Parks conducted a controlled burn Wednesday at Harmony Headlands.
The fire, which sent a plume of smoke south to Morro Bay, was located in the southwest corner of the park from the main stock pond to the coast.
It was “part of a prescribed fire program for habitat management” and was intended to help keep native grasslands healthy, according to State Parks.
The park was closed for the day.
