San Miguel names Traci Welch to replace Dubost as superintendent

Traci Welch, a principal in Hilmar in Merced County, has been chosen as the new superintendent for the San Miguel Joint Unified School District.

Welch was picked out of 29 applicants to replace superintendent Curt Dubost, who will leave the school district in July, according to an announcement this week from county Superintendent of Schools James Brescia.

Welch earned her bachelor’s degree and teaching certification at California State University Bakersfield, and earned her masters degree from the University of La Verne. She has served as a site principal in both California and Oklahoma, including most recently at Elim Elementary School in the Hilmar Unified School District.

The San Miguel Joint Union School District Board of Trustees are expected to approve her contract at their meeting April 14.
