Cal Poly names new chief of staff
Cal Poly has named Jessica Darin Cal Poly president’s new chief of staff and associate vice president.
Darin, 51, has served as deputy chief of staff for California State University Chancellor Timothy White for the past three years. She previously worked for seven years in the Chancellor’s Office at UC Riverside.
She’ll oversee daily operations of the President’s Office, which include University Communications, Student Ombuds Services and the Office of University Legal Counsel. She also will be President Jeffrey Armstrong’s point of contact with Cal Poly’s Academic Senate, Associated Students, and other stakeholders. She starts May 2.
Darin has a bachelor’s degree in English from UC Riverside and master’s degrees in management from the University of Redlands and in public administration from Cal State Long Beach.
She replaces previous chief of staff Betsy Kinsley, who left the university for a new role in Lake Tahoe late last year, as well as faculty fellow Rachel Fernflores, who is serving as interim chief of staff until Darin’s arrival.
