Vineyard Elementary School students in Templeton received free books from North County service groups Tuesday. The groups gave each third-grade student a dictionary and each fourth-grader a thesaurus to take home.

“The students are so excited to receive this book of their own, to take home and use as a resource for their studies for years to come,” Principal Laura Brooks said.

The book-giving tradition began several years ago by the Templeton Chamber of Commerce, along with several local service clubs and private businesses that raise funds for the books. This year, the chamber was assisted by the Lions Club, Rotary Club of Templeton, Kiwanis Club of Templeton and Umpqua Bank.
