Cal Poly names 2 new associate vice presidents

Two new associate vice presidents have been named at Cal Poly.

Richard Ellison, currently vice president of university advancement at CSU Chico, will be the new associate vice president of development at Cal Poly, starting Sept. 24. He’ll handle the university’s philanthropic activity, nurturing support from alumni, private industry, funding organizations

Jeff Hess was named interim associate vice president for marketing and communications, effective June 16. Hess will work on developing a marketing program to support recruitment, donors, fundraising and other activities.

Both men will help with Cal Poly’s multimillion dollar fundraising campaign. The first campaign, which ended in 2004, brought in more than $264 million.

Ellison has more than 30 years of advancement experience. Hess has served as a marketing professor at Cal Poly for eight years. He was a senior vice president at TNS Global, a marketing research firm, before that.
