Over $600,000 in scholarships awarded to SLO County students. See the winners
Over $600,000 in scholarships were just awarded to local youth by the Community Foundation of San Luis Obispo County.
The awards went to more than 100 students — with some receiving over $20,000 each, according to the foundation.
Over 70% of this year’s scholarship recipients had financial needs, according to a news release — and six of the scholarships were brand new.
The scholarships were awarded both to help support students financially and to honor the legacies of impactful community members, the foundation said in a news release.
“From aviation to trades, to returning to education and STEM, these transformative scholarships help students focus on their dreams and remove barriers to entry,” the release said.
