The principal of Atascadero High School abruptly resigned on Friday due to “personal reasons,” according to a statement by the school district’s superintendent.

Dan Andrus had been principal at Atascadero High School for three years. He stepped down with just three months left in the school year.

“We have a great team of educators and classified staff in place at Atascadero High School to ensure a successful completion of the year for our students,” Atascadero Unified School District Superintendent Tom Butler, wrote in a statement on Friday. “Please join me in wishing Mr. Andrus well and thanking him for his service to our community.”

Andrus had previously been principal at Morro Bay High School from 2006 through 2014.

He left that position in March 2014, just a few months before graduation.

Andrus could not be reached Monday for comment.
