UC Davis veterinary program expands to SLO County with donation of horse facility
The equine health program at the University of California Davis (UC Davis) expanded to the Central Coast after the owner of Templeton Farms donated the property to the University.
Gina Bornino Miller and her deceased husband, William J. Miller, opened the 52-acre horse facility in 2011, where horses are trained, bred, sold and boarded, according to a news release from UC Davis.
“I am thrilled to donate Templeton Farms to my alma mater,” said Bornino Miller in the release. “It was our dream to build a world-class facility, and I look forward to seeing it develop further to advance equine health and veterinary education for years to come.”
Carrie Finno, director of the Center for Equine Health, said in the release that she is grateful to Bornino Miller for donating Templeton Farms to the veterinary program.
“Templeton Farms is a spectacular property with a reputation for excellence, and we are committed to providing top-quality care to boarders while enhancing our research and educational efforts to improve horse health and performance,” Finno said in the release.
More information about the timing of the Center for Equine Health’s expansion to the Central Coast will be released in 2022.
