Arroyo Grande High School officials investigated potential social media threats Monday, though ultimately they were not found to pose a threat, a school district spokesperson confirmed.

According to Lucia Mar Unified School District spokeswoman Amy Jacobs, students notified Arroyo Grande High School administrators Monday of “potential threats communicated over social media.”

After working with local authorities and the FBI, administration and Arroyo Grande police determined there was “no credible threat to the safety of the school.”

“We are so proud of our students for immediately reporting their concerns and while these threats were not credible, we are glad to know that our students take the safety of our school seriously,” Jacobs wrote in an email to The Tribune. “We continue to make the safety of our students and staff our top priority.”

The nature of the threats was not disclosed.
