Bomb threat forces evacuation of Pismo Beach gift shop

A bomb threat Tuesday morning caused police to evacuate and shut down the area around a Pismo Beach gift shop.

The store, on the 100 block of Pomeroy Avenue, received the threat about 9:21 a.m. from an unknown subject, according to a news release from the Pismo Beach Police Department.

Police evacuated the area and closed surrounding areas that could be affected. Cal Fire was staged at the unified command post, and State Parks bomb detection dogs were brought in to search the area.

The business was eventually deemed clear and safe to reoccupy, and the area was reopened at 11:56 a.m.

The Pismo Beach Police Department’s Investigations Bureau is following up on the incident. No further information is available at this time.
