A Cal Poly police search for a suspicious person on Wednesday morning at Robert E. Kennedy Library yielded no suspects or arrests.
Officers responded to reports of a suspicious individual or armed student at the library about 10 a.m., said Jay Thompson, a Cal Poly spokesman. Police searched all floors of the library but found no threat, Thompson said.
Thompson said officers eventually located the student described, but they determined the individual was not dangerous. Police cleared the case about 10:15 a.m., he said.
Cal Poly received the report as UCLA was reporting that two people were shot on campus and Los Angeles police were searching for the shooter. After the investigation, police sent a message to students and faculty via email and the university’s PolyAlert system to dispel rumors that an active shooter was on Cal Poly’s campus.
