Boy stabbed at San Miguel Park; attacker sought by authorities
A 15-year-old boy was stabbed at San Miguel Park early Monday afternoon, and sheriff’s deputies spent the afternoon searching for the attacker in the neighborhoods of San Miguel.
The extent of the boy’s injuries were not available Monday, but Sheriff’s Office spokesman Tony Cipolla said early Monday evening that the boy is being treated at a nearby hospital and is expected to recover.
Deputies responded to the park on the 1200 block of K Street about 3 p.m. for a report of a stabbing. The victim was found and treated by emergency medical personnel and then taken via ambulance to the hospital.
Cipolla said investigators do not yet know a motive for the stabbing, but they are looking into the incident as possibly gang related. He said the suspect, who had not been identified, is a white man about 19 years old, 6 feet tall and last seen wearing a blue shirt and black pants with a blue rag or handkerchief hanging out of the back pocket.
He was last seen leaving the area on foot.
A witness to the incident named a man authorities are calling a person of interest in the case, and investigators were in contact with that man and trying to determine his involvement, Cipolla said.
Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Office at 805-781-4550, or leave an anonymous tip at Crime Stoppers at 805-549-STOP.
