Grover Beach police officers responding to a domestic disturbance early Monday used a Taser on a man after he allegedly approached them with a 10-inch butcher knife.

Police Cmdr. Tim Miller said Monday afternoon that officers responded to a home on the 1600 block of Ramona Avenue for a reported disturbance and found Eugenio Zamorasierra, 37, standing outside the front door of the home.

Zamorasierra was partially hiding behind a wall by the doorway and allegedly didn’t obey the officers’ commands to show his hands. When he stepped out from the doorway, he walked toward the officers while displaying the knife, Miller said.

Officers told him to drop the knife, but he allegedly refused. He was Tased and fell to the ground, causing him to drop the knife, which was recovered by the officers.

Zamorasierra was arrested without further incident and booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, resisting a police officer and making criminal threats.

He was not listed as in custody on the jail website as of late Monday afternoon.
