CHP is searching for a suspect after a Friday morning hit-and-run incident sent an Arroyo Grande jogger to the hospital with serious injuries.
Jana Hayashi was running south on W. El Campo Road, just north of Par View Lane in Arroyo Grande at about 8:30 a.m. when a southbound driver allegedly hit her with a vehicle, CHP officer Christopher Menchen said.
The driver then allegedly fled the scene, Menchen said, leaving Hayashi lying injured in the road. Based on skid marks found at the scene, officers believe the driver tried, but failed, to stop before hitting her, Menchen said.
A witness came upon Hayashi shortly after the incident and called 911. Emergency responders took her to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo, where Menchen said she’s in serious condition.
