2 men arrested on suspicion of downtown SLO thefts
San Luis Obispo police on Thursday night arrested two men for their suspected involvement in theft-related crimes downtown.
Michael Sneed, 40, was arrested on suspicion of burglary after a break-in at SLO Camp N’ Pack on the 300 block of Higuera Street, according to a San Luis Obispo Police Department news release.
An officer at 8:54 p.m. heard an alarm sounding and saw a large broken window near the shop’s front door. Police discovered Sneed had allegedly gathered about $400 in merchandise to steal, including knives and an axe. Sneed is being held in the San Luis Obispo County Jail on $20,000 bail as of Friday afternoon.
Craig Perry, 47, was arrested on suspicion of grand theft and violation of probation during a “bike bait” operation on the 600 block of Marsh Street.
Detectives “bait” potential thieves by leaving a bicycle unlocked and watch for any suspicious behavior. Officers observed Perry looking at the bike at around 10:30 p.m., and allegedly saw him walk away with his bike and the bait bike about 45 minutes later.
Perry is being held in jail on $35,000 bail as of Friday afternoon.
