Two Paso Robles men were arrested Wednesday for their alleged involvement in a Sunday shots fired incident.

Fernando Maduena, 21, was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm in a grossly negligent manner and possession of a controlled substance for sale, according to a Paso Robles Police Department release. He was being held on $50,000 bail as of Thursday afternoon.

Alejandro Mora, 19, was arrested on suspicion of robbery, conspiracy and destruction of evidence. Mora was no longer in jail as of Thursday afternoon.

Police believe the shooting, which occurred on the 600 block of Nicklaus Street and wasn’t believed to have produced any injuries, was the result of a narcotics transaction gone wrong. Officers found four spent shell casings and several Xanax pills in the roadway after the incident.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Paso Robles police at 237-6464 or Crime Stoppers’ anonymous hotline at 549-7867.
