Car chase through Paso Robles ends with woman’s arrest
A Santa Rosa woman was arrested after she led a CHP officer on a high-speed chase through Paso Robles on Monday night, according to the CHP.
A CHP officer tried to stop a Honda Pilot on Highway 46 West near Theatre Drive at 9:39 p.m., according to the CHP. The driver, later identified as Deborah Lorraine Marotto, 40, was reportedly driving 95 mph in a 55 mph zone.
When the officer turned on his lights and siren, Marotto — who was the only person in the car — drove away in an erratic manner, according to the CHP. She then got onto northbound Highway 101 and allegedly drove at speeds in excess of 110 mph while continuing to drive erratically.
Marotto exited Highway 101 at north Spring Street and drove up a dirt embankment, according to the CHP. She then drove off the ramp and onto the dirt shoulder between the ramp and the railroad tracks to the east, officials said.
After unsuccessfully trying to flee on the shoulder, Marotto stopped and surrendered, according to the CHP. She was booked into County Jail on felony evading of a peace officer. Bail was set at $25,000.
