A Stockton man allegedly tried to kidnap an 18-year-old woman and forcibly carry her into an alleyway late Wednesday morning before the woman was able to escape and report him to authorities.
At about 11:55 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a report of an attempted kidnapping on 13th Street in San Miguel, according to a news release.
The woman allegedly told deputies that she was walking toward a bus stop on Mission Street when she was approached by a man who tried to lure her to his motel room. When she refused, the man grabbed both of her arms, picked her up and began to carry her toward a nearby alley, the Sheriff’s Office said. The man dropped her when she began kicking her feet, and she ran away and called her mother, who called 911.
Responding deputies arrested Tony Laow Her, 26, at the motel and booked him into San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of kidnapping and kidnapping with intent to commit rape.
The Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest Wednesday night, and no spokesperson was available for additional comment.
As of late Wednesday, Her remained in custody in lieu of $100,000 bail.
