A suspect has been arrested in Monday’s armed robbery of Heritage Oaks Bank, according to the San Luis Obispo Police Department.

Following a tip Tuesday, police identified Johnie Dean Arnold, 54, as a suspect and located Arnold at his home in Bakersfield, where he was arrested without incident, according to a department news release.

With the help of the Kern County Sheriff’s Department, officers searched Arnold’s home and allegedly found “numerous items” connecting him to both the San Luis Obispo robbery and a Nov. 2 robbery in Goleta, according to the department.

On Monday afternoon at 2:22 p.m., a man with a gun held up the San Luis Obispo bank on Froom Ranch Way, making off with about $5,000 in cash.

Arnold was transported to San Luis Obispo County Jail and booked on suspicion of robbery. He remained in custody Thursday afternoon in lieu of $250,000 bail.
