State investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying a person of interest in the investigation into the crash that killed 26-year-old Lindsay Matzie and seriously injured three others, including the suspected drunken driver.

Surveillance footage images released by the CHP on Wednesday show a young man at a Taco Bell on the 300 block of Santa Rosa Street in San Luis Obispo with Lauren Aldrete, 22, about an hour before Aldrete allegedly drove the wrong way on Highway 101 in Paso Robles and caused the crash.

The CHP is calling the man a “valuable witness” from whom to collect information regarding the events that led up to the collision.

Anyone with knowledge of the man’s identity is asked to contact the CHP Coastal Division investigations unit at 549-3261 or 70MAIT@chp.ca.gov.
