DUI checkpoint planned for Pismo Beach
Pismo Beach police will conduct a DUI /drivers license checkpoint somewhere in the city on Monday night, the department announced.
The checkpoint at an undisclosed location will be held from 8 p.m. Monday to 3 a.m. Tuesday. The location is chosen based on accident statistics and DUI arrests in order to have the greatest effect in deterring drunk and drugged driving, the department said in a news release.
The checkpoint is part of increased enforcement and staffing by policing agencies around the county during the holiday season, when DUI-related deaths increase. A DUI checkpoint also is scheduled for the evening of New Year’s Day at an undisclosed location in San Luis Obispo.
