Paso Robles police have arrested a suspect in a string of burglaries at local businesses that resulted in a total loss of about $20,000.
Officers arrested Carlos Aguirre Camacho, 29, of Paso Robles, on Friday, following a weeklong investigation into four commercial burglaries reported throughout the city since Nov. 6.
According to a police department news release, the first burglary occurred Nov. 6 at a local restaurant where the burglar broke in through a rooftop skylight. Three similar burglaries followed, the most recent on Thursday.
Police said the businesses were closed when the burglaries occurred and the suspect entered each building through the roof.
Cash, cell phones and other items totaling about $20,000 were taken, police said.
During the investigation, Camacho was found to have previously worked for two of the businesses, according to the news release. He was arrested near his home Friday after being discovered with merchandise from the Nov. 12 burglary and booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of four felony counts of second-degree burglary.
As of Monday morning, he remained in custody in lieu of $95,000 bail.
