Jose Angel Castillo, 38, of Oceano has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder related to Thursday’s shooting in Oceano. Authorities released his name Friday, along with new information that detectives determined the incident is gang related, according to a press release.
The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office previously said that deputies responded to a report of shots fired in the 1500 block of Ocean Street around 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Responding deputies determined the shots were fired from a home on the block toward a passing car.
No injuries were reported, but authorities have since found the vehicle that was shot at and say there’s evidence of bullet holes in it. A gun was also recovered at the scene and is believed to be the weapon involved in the shooting, according to new information released Friday.
Several people were questioned by officers, the release said, and Castillo was arrested and taken into custody. As of Friday afternoon, he remained in County Jail in lieu of a $500,000 bond.
