A Templeton man who allegedly stabbed a woman to death in his home while a 5-year-old child was present has been charged with murder.
Philip Thomas Hanes, 58, will appear Tuesday in San Luis Obispo Superior Court for his initial arraignment.
On Monday afternoon, the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office formally charged Hanes with murder. The prosecution also added an enhancement for using a deadly weapon.
According to the county Sheriff’s Office, Tina Marie Beddow, 32, called 911 to report a domestic disturbance at 10:21 p.m. June 4. When deputies arrived, they discovered that Beddow had been stabbed. She was taken to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries.

A 5-year-old child related to the suspect was home during the attack. He was uninjured and placed under the temporary custody of county Child Protective Services.
A memorial page has been set up on Facebook for Beddow, a Eureka native. Photos show her posing with friends from a high school drama group, preparing for prom and going on a trip to Oregon.
Meanwhile, a friend has set up a page on the fundraising website Crowdrise.com to help Beddow’s family pay for memorial services.
According to the page, titled the Tina Marie Memorial Benefit, Beddow’s father died just last year.
Court records show no criminal past for Hanes. His relationship with Beddow is unclear.
Hanes was previously married, but that ended in a divorce in 1995, according to court records.
