Sheriff’s Office arrests SLO County man suspected in sexual assault of a minor

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man in Los Osos during a sexual assault investigation on Thursday.

Sheriff’s Office detectives served a search warrant on Fresno Street in Los Osos, then arrested 22-year-old Los Osos resident Wayland Stronglee, the agency said.

Stronglee was arrested on suspicion of “rape by force and unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

“Investigators determined that Stronglee met the victim through social media before the assault,” the release said.

Those with information about the investigation or Stronglee can contact the Sheriff’s Office at 805-781-4500

“Investigators are working to determine whether there may be additional victims or witnesses who have not yet come forward,” the release said.

As of Thursday at 4:40 p.m., Stronglee was not in custody at the San Luis Obispo County Jail, according to the Sheriff’s booking log.
