DUI driver rams into parked truck, flees scene before arrest, SLO police say
A man was arrested in San Luis Obispo on Tuesday night after allegedly yelling at people from his car, ramming into a parked truck and fleeing from police while intoxicated.
According to the San Luis Obispo Police Department, police received reports around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday of a disturbance in the neighborhood near Capistrano Court and Portola Street.
A man was driving through the neighborhood and yelling at bystanders, the Police Department said in a social media post Wednesday morning.
The man then repeatedly “intentionally drove into a parked truck” before fleeing the scene, police said.
The driver was located by authorities in a Silver Prius near Del Rio Avenue and Prefumo Canyon Road, but did not stop until reaching the Laguna Lake Mobile Estates area, the post said.
Police said the man was combative but was detained after a short struggle.
He was arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism, misdemeanor resisting arrest and misdemeanor DUI, police said.
Police did not release the man’s name Wednesday.
