CHP looking for car that sideswiped SLO County sheriff’s vehicle in hit-and-run

Law enforcement is searching for a driver who sideswiped a parked San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office vehicle in Los Osos and fled the scene on Saturday.

A white sedan driving west on Los Osos Valley Road for unknown reasons turned to the right and crashed into the left side of an unoccupied sheriff’s vehicle at about 5:38 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said in a news release.

The sheriff’s vehicle was parked on the north side of Los Osos Valley Road west of South Bay Boulevard, the CHP said.

The sedan then fled the scene driving northbound on Fairchild Way, the CHP said.

The vehicle is a white sedan with damage on the right front and passenger side. It may be a Toyota, the CHP said.

People with information about the crash or the vehicle can call the CHP at 805-594-8700.

“We encourage community accountability in instances like this to build safer stronger San Luis Obispo neighborhoods,” CHP Lt. Ferguson said in the release.
