Group of teens attacked, beat 15-year-old girl in downtown SLO, police say

A fight in downtown San Luis Obispo ended with one teenage victim in the hospital and five suspects in Juvenile Hall.

On Thursday, San Luis Obispo Police Department officers responded to a report of a fight in a parking lot in the 1100 block of Morro Street, according to a news release.

Arriving at the scene of the incident, officers determined that a 15-year-old girl had been assaulted by two juvenile males and three juvenile females, according to the release.

During the assault, the victim was thrown to the ground and repeatedly punched and kicked in the body and head, causing her to lose consciousness, according to the release.

Her phone and purse were stolen in the attack, and the victim was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, according to the release.

Several suspects fled in vehicles prior to the officers’ arrival, but were located and arrested on Tuesday following an investigation by the San Luis Obispo Police Department Detective Bureau.

The five suspects were arrested on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon with great bodily injury, robbery and conspiracy, according to the release.

A pair of the juveniles involved were also charged with misdemeanors for a minor in possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, and another was charged with a misdemeanor for being in possession of pepper spray, according to the release.
