A Cambria man was arrested late Wednesday night after a multi-hour standoff with the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a report of domestic battery at a home on Weymouth Street shortly after midnight on Wednesday, Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Tony Cipolla told the Tribune.

When deputies arrived on scene, Adrial Joshua Hernandez, 41, was in the home, with a 44-year-old woman and her 8-year-old daughter.

“Deputies were able to get the victim and her daughter out of the residence, but the suspect refused to come out,” Cipolla said in a statement.

The woman’s face and body were bruised, and medics arrived on scene to evaluate her and her daughter, Cipolla said.

“Deputies made announcements to Hernandez over their PA system to exit the house,” he said, but Hernandez did not comply with the order.

Deputies continued to try to reach Hernandez by cell phone for several hours, then entered the home with a K9 at 4 a.m.

“Hernandez resisted but was eventually detained,” Cipolla said.

Deputies arrested Hernandez for alleged corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant, assault with a deadly weapon with force causing possible great bodily injury and resisting a peace officer, he said.

Hernandez was not in custody at the San Luis Obispo County Jail as of Friday morning, according to the Sheriff’s booking log.
