2 people arrested on suspicion of meth, cocaine possession in Paso Robles
Two people were arrested in Paso Robles on Friday night after police said a traffic stop led to the discovery of suspected methamphetamine and cocaine.
Jose Acosta and Veronica Romero, both 42 from Salinas, were pulled over together by Paso Robles police for a moving violation, according to a news release on the department’s Facebook page.
A K-9 named “Griff” was with Paso Robles police during the traffic stop when it detected the presence of potential narcotics in the vehicle, the release said.
After a search of the vehicle, police found 90 pounds of suspected methamphetamine and 4 pounds of suspected cocaine, the release said.
Police estimated the street value of the suspected narcotics in Acosta and Romero’s alleged possession was worth $240,000.
Acosta and Romero were both taken into custody and were facing multiple felony charges, including alleged possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, transportation of controlled substance and conspiracy, the release said.
Romero additionally has an outstanding arrest warrant out of Monterey County, according to the release.
