Police arrest armed suspect after chase in SLO County. See the video

The Arroyo Grande Police Department released video on Wednesday of officers chasing and arresting an armed suspect in San Luis Obispo County last month.

On the evening of April 18, police officers initiated a traffic stop “for multiple vehicle code violations,” including an expired registration, according to an Instagram post from the Arroyo Grande Police Department.

“While on the stop, the passenger in the vehicle provided a false identification and attempted to flee on foot,” police said.

Video footage showed an officer chasing the suspect, pushing him to the ground and arresting him.

While fleeing, the suspect threw an item on the road — which officers later identified as a loaded gun.

Arroyo Grande police released video of a chase and arrest that occurred on April 18, 2025. A suspect fled a traffic stop and tried to ditch a handgun in the process. After the arrest, officers retraced their steps and found the gun.

Officers then arrested the suspect on suspicion of multiple charges, including possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance and obstructing or delaying an officer, police said.

Police did not release the name of the suspect.
