The San Luis Obispo Police Department arrested a suspected drunk driver after a hit-and-run crash on March 5, 2025.

A Domino’s Pizza driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI after crashing into a car in San Luis Obispo on Wednesday.

The driver crashed his car with another vehicle at the intersection of Ella Street and Johnson Avenue at about 12:50 p.m., the San Luis Obispo Police Department said in social media posts.

Police Department spokesperson Christine Wallace told The Tribune the man had just completed a pizza delivery when the crash happened.

“When officers arrived, they were told one of the drivers ran away on foot and was described as wearing a Domino’s Pizza uniform,” police said in the post. “An additional witness saw the driver throw a small bottle of liquor into the bushes before running away.”

A witness shared a photo of the driver with the police.

During investigation, police found a “mostly consumed bottle of vodka” near the scene of the crash, the Facebook post said.

Police then found the driver, outside of Domino’s Pizza on Foothill Boulevard with minor injuries from the airbag deployment, according to the post.

He was identified as a 36-year-old resident of Los Osos, according to Wallace.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI and hit-and-run, police said.

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
