SLO County city had drones, upped patrols to spot illegal fireworks. How many did it catch?
Grover Beach Police Department identified nine individuals shooting off illegal fireworks on the Fourth of July.
According to a tweet from the Grover Beach Police Department, officers identified nine individuals shooting off illegal fireworks Thursday night.
The department issued a $1,000 citation to each of them and all the illegal fireworks were seized.
This year, the police department said it was ramping up enforcement for the holiday.
In a Facebook post June 28, the Grover Beach Police Department said it would be “deploying additional personnel who will be looking for and enforcing the use of illegal fireworks.”
Those included increased patrols and air support, the department said.
Throughout the night, what appeared to be police drones could be seen throughout the Five Cities area monitoring for illegal fireworks use as numerous fireworks exploded overhead.
