SLO County driver crashes into garbage truck while under influence of narcotics, police say
An Arroyo Grande man driving under the influence of narcotics crashed into a garbage truck on Wednesday morning, the Arroyo Grande Police Department said in a news release.
At about 9:30 a.m., 34-year-old Robert Meserve crashed his “small passenger car” into an occupied trash truck on Farroll Avenue, police said.
No one was injured in the crash.
When officers arrived on the scene, “Meserve displayed objective symptoms of impairment and field sobriety tests were administered,” the release said.
Police arrested Meserve on suspicion of driving under the influence of narcotics, possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia.
Meserve was no longer in custody at the San Luis Obispo County Jail as of Thursday morning, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office booking log.
This wasn’t the only DUI crash in San Luis Obispo County on Wednesday.
Later that night, an alleged drunk driver crashed into a parked police car that was doing a DUI sweep in San Luis Obispo. No one was injured in that crash.
