Car erupts into flames after alleged DUI driver crashes in SLO County neighborhood
A vehicle collision in southern San Luis Obispo County ended with a vehicle in flames and a driver under arrest Tuesday evening.
According to Grover Beach Police Department Cmdr. Bryan Millard, the police received a call for a vehicle collision near the 200 block of North 16th Street and Newport Avenue in Grover Beach around 7:57 p.m.
A single vehicle had collided with two stationary vehicles while traveling southbound on 16th Street, he said.
Millard said by the time officers arrived at the scene, one vehicle was already in flames and smoking badly.
The driver, 27-year-old San Luis Obispo resident Tristan William Bedoya, sustained minor injuries, according to a post on the Five Cities Fire Authority’s Instagram, and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Millard said the alleged DUI was believed to be the cause of the crash.
The Grover Beach Police Department was assisted by the Fire Authority in putting out the flames, Millard said.
