Update: 2 dead after shooting at home in rural SLO County, sheriff says
Two people were found dead at a home near Creston on Wednesday after reports of shots fired in the area, the San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
The shots were reported around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the 2700 block of Highway 58, also known as Calf Canyon Highway, according to sheriff’s spokesperson Tony Cipolla.
The deceased are a male and female, the news release said. Their identities will be released once their next of kin is notified.
The two people were shot, Cipolla confirmed.
The location is about 10 miles from Santa Margarita.
The Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol, San Luis Ambulance and Cal Fire all responded to the call of shots fired at the rural property.
The private drive was blocked off as investigators responded to the scene.
The news release said detectives began an immediate investigation and remained at the scene on Wednesday afternoon.
The shooting is believed to be an isolated incident, the agency said, and there is no threat to the public at this time.
The agency could not confirm or release any further details on the matter at this time.
