Three Arroyo Grande teenagers were arrested Friday night after they allegedly robbed and assaulted a separate group of juveniles, the Arroyo Grande Police Department said in a news release.

Four juveniles reported that three suspects “forcefully removed (their) personal belongings” around 6:50 p.m. near North Courtland Avenue and East Grand Avenue, police said. Two of the juveniles said they were assaulted during the robbery.

A police officer found three people matching the suspects’ descriptions in the 1800 block of East Grand Avenue, the release said. The officer attempted to stop the people, police said, but the suspects fled the scene.

Officers followed the suspects on foot and “captured” two of them a short distance away. They were arrested without incident.

The third initially evaded police officers, the release said, but was later identified and arrested.

One Arroyo Grande police officer received minor injuries during that arrest, police said.

The three suspects were 17-year-old Arroyo Grande residents, police said. Two of them were on juvenile probation.

The two teens arrested after the chase were transported to the San Luis Obispo Juvenile Service Center on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a crime and delay and obstruct a peace officer.

It is unclear what the third suspect is charged with at this time.

Police said the investigation is ongoing. The department asks anyone with more information to contact Officer Black at 805-473-5110.
