Man driving stolen car arrested at gunpoint in Nipomo, sheriff says

A man suspected of driving a stolen car was arrested at gunpoint in Nipomo on Friday morning, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.

“The Santa Maria Police Department chased a stolen vehicle into SLO County where they terminated the pursuit,” Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Tony Cipolla said.

Deputies saw the stolen vehicle in Nipomo and detained the suspect, Cipolla said.

At about 10:30 a.m., sheriff’s deputies stopped the man at gunpoint on Winding Way, according to traffic on the police scanner.

Sheriff’s Office deputies and a K9 unit responded to the scene, according to scanner traffic.

By 11:07 a.m., deputies had detained the suspect, Cipolla said.
