The Paso Robles Police Department investigated a social media post Wednesday afternoon that indicated a possible threat to Paso Robles High School.

The threat was found to be unsubstantiated, according to a note sent by Principal Anthony Overton to parents Wednesday afternoon. The Paso Robles Joint Unified School District assisted the police department in its investigation.

Overton reminded parents in his note that they should immediately contact law enforcement regarding any threatening message they see or receive directed toward any person or school.

“Further reposting content of this nature is incredibly harmful and makes finding the origin of the message more challenging,” Overton wrote.

“We encourage you to speak with your students regarding the responsible use of social media and the need to report messages containing threats of any nature,” Overton’s note to parents continued. “We take all threats seriously and any individual found making threatening posts, whether credible or not, will be reported to law enforcement and will be held to strict enforcement of the California Education Code including consequences up to expulsion.”
