SLO County middle school goes into lockdown after teachers alert officials of threat
Templeton Middle School went into lockdown Monday, after teachers learned of an unspecified threat against the school, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office said.
The school was under a shelter-in-place order from late Monday morning into the early afternoon, according a Sheriff’s Office news release.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the middle school around 10:50 a.m. to investigate and search the campus, and by 1 p.m. the shelter order was lifted, according to the release.
Normal school day activities continued throughout the shelter-in-place order.
Although no credible threat was identified, deputies will remain on campus for the remainder of the school day, according to the release.
Nearby Templeton Elementary School was also put under shelter-in-place orders out of an abundance of caution, according to the release..
The Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the incident.
