Santa Maria man arrested for alleged DUI after Nipomo crash

A Santa Maria man was arrested after crashing his vehicle into a tree in Nipomo on Sunday.

The California Highway Patrol says the man, Ricardo Santosramirez, 28, of Santa Maria was driving southbound on Indiana Way in Nipomo just before 11 p.m.

Santosramirez was traveling at an undetermined speed when he made an unsafe turning movement, according to the CHP, and drove off the edge of the road.

His car then collided with a tree.

Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and extricated Santosramirez from the vehicle.

He sustained major injuries in the crash, including a broken arm and head trauma, according to the CHP. He was transported to Marian Regional Medical Center.

Authorities determined Santosramirez was driving under the influence of alcohol and he was subsequently arrested.
